Abdulrahman Kanoo Education Group (ARKEDU) is proud to mark a significant milestone, having invested more than US$1 million in university scholarships to support the educational aspirations of its graduates.

With the announcement of the 2026 scholarship recipients, more than 17 students have benefited from this pioneering initiative, reflecting ARKEDU’s long-standing commitment to empowering young people through education and creating opportunities for future success.

We are pleased to congratulate Nada Ali Al Soufi, recipient of the ARKEDU Scholarship, who will pursue a degree in Economics and Management at BIBF, and Feda Hussain Hasan Nasser, recipient of the Abdulrahman Kanoo Award (AKA), who will begin her studies at Norwich University of the Arts.

These scholarships represent more than financial support; they are an investment in the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers. As the only educational institution in Bahrain to offer two university scholarships annually, ARKEDU remains committed to advancing the legacy of its founder, Abdulrahman Jassim Kanoo, and to supporting students as they pursue their ambitions beyond graduation.

Exciting news from ARKEDU!

ARKEDU, Bahrain’s first homegrown education group, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with DOO to integrate artificial intelligence across its schools, setting a new benchmark for innovation in the Kingdom’s education sector.

The initiative will launch in two flagship schools: ARKS Diyar and ARKIS-Salmabad. ARKS Diyar will introduce an AI Admissions Officer, designed to streamline and personalise the admissions process for families, ensuring a smoother and more efficient journey from inquiry to enrollment.

Meanwhile, ARKIS-Salmabad is breaking new ground as the first educational institution in Bahrain to develop AI tutors in partnership with DOO. These AI tutors will initially focus on the Arabic curriculum, providing students with personalised learning support, instant feedback, and an adaptive approach that complements classroom teaching.

“ARKEDU has always believed that the future of education lies in innovation,” said Tariq Abdullatif Jassim Kanoo, Chairman of ARKEDU. “By partnering with DOO, we are not only embracing AI as a tool but also leading the way in shaping how it can support both students and families in Bahrain.”

The collaboration between ARKEDU and DOO reflects a shared vision: to harness the power of artificial intelligence to enhance learning and empower teachers to focus on what matters most — nurturing students.

This milestone underscores ARKEDU’s commitment to providing world-class educational experiences while staying rooted in the values of Bahraini education. It also positions ARKEDU as a regional leader in the responsible, ethical and innovative use of AI in schools.

The Abdulrahman Kanoo Education Group (ARKEDU) announced the winners of the ARKEDU Chairman Award, a prestigious award honoring two staff, from each of its campuses- ARKIS & ARKS Diyar. The recognition will commence on an annual basis and follows on from the AK Principal Awards created in 2021. As the education group has grown, to two stand alone schools under its umbrella, the naming and inclusion has changed. 

The four staff were acknowledged for their diverse and essential contributions of staff, and their commitment to ARKEDU core values of: Aspirational, Respect, Kindness, Excellence, Diversity and Uniqueness. These awards were nominated by peers, highlighting the collaborative spirit and recognition of excellence within the ARKEDU community. The ceremony underscored the importance of fostering a culture of appreciation and motivation among staff members.  

The ARKEDU Chairman- Mr. Tariq Abdullatif Jasim Kanoo commended the winners for their hard work and dedication, emphasising the role of such initiatives in enhancing educational standards and operational efficiency in Bahrain’s educational landscape. The names of the award winners will be showcased on dedicated boards within their respective schools, serving as a lasting reminder of their achievements and the opportunities that dedication can create.

The awards were announced at the ARKIS graduation ceremony, held under the patronage of H.E Dr Mohamed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education in Bahrain.

–  Academic Winner: Litty Riju (Grade Leader Science)

ARKS Diyar: 

–  Operations Winner: Noble Norbet (Grade Leader Primary)

–  Academic Winner: Abbas Marhoon (Security and Estates) 

In honor of the late Abdulrahman bin Jassim Kanoo, the Abdulrahman Kanoo Education Group (ARKEDU) established a second scholarship that embodies the founder’s educational commitment. This initiative seeks to empower and support graduates of ARKIS, emphasizing the crucial role of continued education beyond secondary school. The scholarship offers students the invaluable opportunity to pursue their studies at the university of their choice, enabling them to harness their skills and knowledge to benefit society. This year, the scholarship has been awarded to Miss Jumana Adel Al Bastaki, a remarkable student poised to make a difference.

In his own words, Abdulrahman Kanoo once stated, “I have dedicated my efforts, thoughts, and wealth to this school. My dream is to cultivate a conscious, open, and educated generation that will grow into committed citizens, capable of preserving the interests of this country.”

Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that this year’s Abdulrahman Kanoo Award (AKA) has been bestowed upon Ali Abdulhussain Ramadan. This marks a significant milestone as the fourteenth recipient since the award’s inception. This opportunity will enable Ali to pursue his passion for international social and economic development at the esteemed University of Manchester, where he will study Chemical Engineering. Jumana will be delving into the study of Neuro Psychology at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, both institutions renowned for their academic rigor and global recognition.

Reflecting on his achievement, Ali shared, “I am truly honored to receive this award, which is the culmination of years of hard work and perseverance. It inspires me to fulfill my family’s dreams. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Abdulrahman Kanoo Award Committee, my family, and my teachers for their unwavering support.”

The impact of this program has been profound, with over 16 young graduates actively contributing to the Bahraini community. The annual award will also be expanded to include the Abdulrahman Kanoo Diyar School, further extending its reach.

To date, more than $1,000,000 has been invested in full university scholarships for deserving graduates. Candidates are selected based on a combination of academic excellence and adherence to the values espoused by Abdulrahman bin Jassim Kanoo. This year, four exceptional candidates reached the final interview stage: Jumana Al Bastaki, Abdulla Al Qallaf, Ali Ramadan, and Sreechaitra Sreekumar.

Mr. Tariq Kanoo, Chairman of the ARKEDU Group, expressed his pride: “I am especially proud of this year’s graduating class and the four candidates who were interviewed for the scholarships. The decision was challenging, but we believe the chosen recipients exemplify the core values of our school and ARKEDU. We look forward to continuing this initiative and also announcing a monetary stipend for the student with the highest IB score when the grades are released in July.”

On behalf of the school, Principal Ms. Kate Moskwa stated, “Ali and Jumana truly embody the values and skills we strive to instill in our students. Our late founder would be proud to see his legacy carried forward through these exceptional individuals. We eagerly anticipate welcoming them back after they have completed their first university degrees and witnessing their impactful contributions to the Kingdom of Bahrain.”

Abdulrahman Kanoo Education Group (ARKEDU) was established in 2023, the first Bahraini Education Group within the Kingdom. Following on from its late Founder, Mr. Abdulrahamn Jasim Kanoo, his vision and mission of inclusive and accessible education being the driving pillar of its establishment. In a further step to continue this legacy, ARKEDU  announces a second undergraduate scholarship to its graduating cohort, under the core values of: Aspirational, Respect, Kindness, Excellence, Diversity and Uniqueness. This will be the second, fully funded university scholarship offered to students. The fundamentals of the scholarship are based on continuing the “promoting philanthropic endeavours as did the late Founder but also career opportunities. Allowing the candidate to focus on their academic pursuits, this award is in recognition of hard work, dedication and the potential of the future leader- and Alumni of the ARKEDU family.”

Announced at the ARKIS graduation ceremony, the ARKEDU Chairman: Mr Tariq Abdullatif Jasim Kanoo made the surprise announcement within his speech, in the presence of H.E  Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma- Minister of Education, “ This scholarship is the first since the establishment of this group, ARKEDU, as it will contribute to giving the students attending schools under its umbrella (ARKIS & ARKS Diyar) the opportunity to follow and continue the educational achievement at the university they wish. It is our belief that it will then benefit from their skills and knowledge, and contribute to Bahraini society.” 

The first ARKEDU scholarship winner went Eyad Zouinekh, who noted, “ I am honored and pleased to be the first student at Abdulrahman Kanoo International School to receive the ARKEDU scholarship and thus witness the history of the school to the farthest distances and the most famous achievements. With this scholarship, I am thrilled to see my future in Aerospace Engineering made possible as I embark on my next journey at the Emirates Aviation University in the UAE.

From the words of the late Abdulrahman Kanoo: I have devoted my efforts, thoughts, and wealth to this school, I dream to have a school that will provide the country with a conscious, open and educated generation, and I hope that they will be sincere and grow into committed citizens of their country and be able to contribute and maintain the interest of this country. 

Over $US 1 Million dollars invested in 14 ARKIS graduants to date.

ARKEDU is the first Bahraini Education Group in the Kingdom, of which two schools are currently under: ARKIS and ARKS Diyar.

Abdulrahman Kanoo International School (ARKIS) held its 15th graduation on 21 May 2024 at the Gulf Hotel and Convention Centre. Attended by H.E Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Juma: Minister of Education & H.H Mr. Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Moawda: Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Environment, the 15th graduating class takes ARKIS Alumni to over 2000 IB and high school students, since our late Founder, Mr. Abdulrahman Jasim Kanoo opened the school in 1997.

The 2024 graduating class consisted of 122 high school and International Baccalaureate (IB) students, along with their parents and guests being addressed by Mr. Tariq Abdullatif Jasim Kanoo- Chairman of ARKEDU. The announcement, to a standing ovulation, of a new undergraduate scholarship under ARKEDU. “As the only private school to offer such incentives, investment in our community and that of our children’s education is the Trustees mission. To date over US $ 1000000 has been spent on paying for the full undergraduate programmes, for 14 outstanding and talented graduates via the AKA Scholarship programme. Tonight, as Chairman and on behalf of the Board, I announce a further ARKEDU scholarship and ARKEDU Excellence in IB Award. Our late Founder believed, as the Board does, that there is overwhelming evidence suggesting that investing in education can yield significant long-term benefits for both the individual and society as a whole. Announcement of the existing scholarship and the new scholarship will be announced next week. The Excellence in IB Award will be declared once the IB results are posted in July.”

Speaking to the esteemed guests, ARKIS Principal Ms. Kate Moskawa noted, “Our graduates will be attending universities in sectors of aviation, finance, law, cybersecurity, and engineering around the world, inclusive of the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Greece, the United States and Bahrain, with a number of graduates joining Bahrain Defense Force.” The head of Secondary School, Mr. Steve Lewis commenting, “I am proud to be part of the ARKEDU Group, committed to providing an outstanding education that seeks to foster a sense of civic responsibility and ethical values. Heartfelt congratulations to the class of 2024, this is just the beginning, ARKIS gave you wings, now is your time to fly.”

Prizes were awarded to outstanding Alumni of ARKIS. This new recognition was the idea of Dr Faisal Kanoo- Vice Chairman, in a way of “fostering continued relationships and honouring distinguished graduates. With a panel of leadership members, clear criteria was formed, and hereafter at ARKIS graduations, our Alumni who have supported the school and made significant contributions to the community within many fields, will be acknowledged”.
